CONNECTICUT STATE DIRECTOR - Melodie J. Peet, M.P.H., recently joined The Institute as the State Director of Connecticut. She is responsible for the overall operation of programs and services provided by The Institute statewide. Melodie brings with her a solid and distinguished background in the field of public health and policy. In her 30 year career Melodie has served in a number of leadership roles including Executive Director - Greater Bridgeport Mental Health Center, Bridgeport, CT; Commissioner - Maine Department of Mental Health Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services, Augusta, ME; Chief Executive Officer - Riverview Hospital for Children and Youth, Middletown, CT and Deputy Commissioner - Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, Boston, MA. As a strong advocate of human rights, over the course of her career, Melodie has initiated many positive changes at both the state and organizational level by designing, piloting and implementing new service models to better meet the needs of the population being served. Melodie received her M.P.H. Master of Public Health at Yale University and her B.A. at Connecticut College.
